SITUATION
Duvin came to us as an apparel brand that already had a following and a recognizable feel. What they wanted was the thing that had never been written down. Brand guidelines, mockups, and apparel collections designed from the system rather than around it.
DIAGNOSIS
Apparel brands drift for a reason. Every season is a new set of decisions, and without documented rules those decisions get made by whoever is closest to the deadline. The look survives on instinct until the instinct is spread across too many people. Duvin needed the instinct written down before the next collection tested it.
DECISION
Document the system, then prove it works by using it. Guidelines first, so the rules exist independently of any one designer. Then design the collections from those rules, which is the only real test of whether the guidelines hold.
